About Mrs. Stoddard
I am excited to be part of the Mt. Horeb Middle School team as an eighth grade teacher, science emphasis. 2019-20 will be my thirteenth year working with eighth graders at MHMS.
I grew up on a farm near Mt. Horeb and attended school here, just as my parents and grandparents did before me. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education at UW-Whitewater and have a teaching certification in Elementary Education (1-8) and Learning Disabilities. I was inspired to obtain my Masters in Middle Level Education from UW-Platteville after our middle school made the transition away from a junior high model and became a true middle school. Based on my training and experience, middle level philosophy is the best way to help this unique age group thrive in all areas of development. I really like eighth graders, so I "hit the jackpot" in being able to return to teaching them!
My husband and I have 6 children. The older two are all grown up and married. Our oldest and his wife have 7-year old twins, so I’m a grandma! Our daughter teaches first graders at Riverdale. Our four younger boys range in age from sixth grade to a sophomore in college. We built a house on the farm where I grew up, but I don’t get to bale hay or do chores anymore. My parents rent the farmland out now, but it’s still a great place for our boys to grow up.
I have always felt that the Mt. Horeb Area School District is the best district in Wisconsin because of the amazing students, caring and professional staff, supportive families, and wonderful community. It is a tremendous honor for me to be able to teach and learn with students in Mt. Horeb. I am thankful for this opportunity, and enjoy every day with my wonderful eighth graders.
